SLB in collaboration with MPlace Girls organized an all-girls program for the students of JACK & Jill. This program was aimed to expose young girls to opportunities existing in the ICT sector through mentorship and workshop to encourage them to consider professions in the ICT sector which is perceived to be male dominated.
Following insightful mentorship talks from the SLB Lead and the President of MPlace Girls, the event transitioned to the capable
hands of the MPlace Girls’ team, who were tasked with guiding the students through the session. The participants were introduced to the vast career opportunities available in STEM and the various paths they could pursue.
The hands-on learning experience was facilitated using tools such as the mBot, Arduino, and EV3 Lego kits. To ensure personalized attention and a more effective learning environment, the girls were divided into smaller groups, each led by a dedicated facilitator.
The positive impact of the session was unmistakable, reflected in the learners’ smiles and their enthusiastic feedback, highlighting the enjoyment and engagement they experienced. This enriching program took place on March 11th, 2023, leaving a lasting impression on 58 young girls by opening their eyes to the possibilities within STEM fields.
